#A29 French Trade-Axe With A Carved Haft. Original 18th. Century French Trade-Axe.
This is a brand new, historical copy of an 18th century French trade-axe that I forged in my blacksmith shop, The North River Forge. I specialize in hand-forged reproductions of the 18th and 19th centuries. They have an authenticity rarely found in other maker's work. Each piece is unique. Dimensions: Head overall 5 3/4" - Cutting edge 3 1/4" wide. Steel: 1018 with a welded cutting edge of 1095 high carbon steel. Haft: Hard maple, 17 1/4" long. Hand carved by artist Neil Fehr. Finish: Aged finish. Period correct. Special Features: Hand carved goose head haft. Leather sheath decorated with an antler piece, trade beads, copper cones and a deer hide fringe. Turned antler clasp. This custom trade-axe is stamped with my makers mark NR. Great for re-enactors or collectors who crave tradition. Hand crafted in the traditions of long ago. It is a reminder of an era past. A very nice reproduction of an original French trade-axe that will take and keep a good edge. It has never been carried or used. Functional as well as beautiful. A classic design. Price: $295.00 plus $16 shipping (USA - Canada)
